Can You Clean Your Bathroom In Just Five Minutes Without Deep Cleaning?
As a busy bee, working mom with a toddler, my daily schedule is full and I simply don’t have the time to do deep cleaning in the bathroom every day. So how do I do it? Let me share with you how to clean your bathroom in just five minutes.
Love it or hate it, you need to deep clean your bathroom at least once a week.
Ok, maybe every two weeks for some of you. The more you clean the less you need to clean!
If you follow these tips, and clean a little every day, you will only need at most of 20-30 minutes to do a more thorough clean on the weekends when you have more time.
Part of simplifying my life is finding ways to get things done quicker yet in a more productive way. I ask myself what I can do to save time and boost productivity?
If you are like me you don’t want germs spreading through your home that would’ve been prevented with a deep clean. Bacteria grows in warm and damp environments.
Soap scum, bacteria, toilet rings, slime and grime. Ewwwww. I cannot stand it. So you know what I do? I don’t let it get dirty.
Yup! It is the only way to save yourself from scrubbing gunk and breathing in harsh chemicals.
Roll those sleeves up, get your rubber gloves ready and let’s get started.
I will show you how to clean your bathroom in just five minutes with excellent results.
1. Cut Down On The Clutter
This is the first step you absolutely have to take to keep your bathroom or any other room in your house clean.
Covering bathroom surfaces with shampoo bottles, lotions, creams, soaps, makeup, hair dryers, straighteners and pins, will not only make it seem messy and dirty, but it will make it harder for you to keep clean.
I prefer for my surfaces in the bathroom (and kitchen) to be near-empty. This way I can wipe it down every day and not allow dust and germs to even think about accumulating.
I like putting my things away and having a specific space for things. We have lots of space and drawers to put our items in so our bathroom is clear of items just “hanging around”.
Don’t you hate it when you visit someone and they have a bathroom or toilet that looks or is filthy?
Yuck! I would never want someone to experience that at our place.
Having a space for everything means not having to put things away every single day.
When you are done with your morning routine, wipe down the counters and put items back where they belong. Shouldn’t take you more than three minutes to do.
If it is taking more of your time, cut down on the clutter. Easy peasy to clean your bathroom in just five minutes.
2. Toilet Filth
I know it sounds gross and nasty, but this is one thing you absolutely have to do. Cleaning a toilet can be a very disgusting chore, however, once you know the quick and easy steps to keeping it clean, you can take care of this in minutes every day.
It’s a dirty job but someone’s gotta do it right? Remove everything from around the toilet.
Don’t keep any unnecessary items around the toilet. Flush the toilet with the seat lid down to prevent splattering and splashing.
Do not use sponges when you scrub a toilet. Sponges help breed and spread bacteria so use paper towels. They are great options because you throw them away after use.
Wipe down the seat and lid with an antibacterial wipe and swirl the toilet bowl brush around the toilet bowl. You will need about 3 minutes to do this. I suggest doing this before you begin your morning routine or take a shower.
It just seems icky to shower, smell nice and fresh, then clean the toilet. Kind of defeats the purpose of getting yourself clean.
Didn’t think you could clean your bathroom in just five minutes, did you? Voila!
Did you know that leaving the toilet seat up while flushing can spread bacteria all over your bathroom? You could be spraying nasty bacteria on your counter tops, towels and even on your toothbrush. Good heavens! Toilets lids are not there for decoration. If you’re not already storing toothbrushes, hair brushes and contact lenses inside the cabinet, you may want to start now. You do not want this stuff in your eyes and mouth, do you? Ugh!
3. Shower Curtains And Doors
These are often covered in soap scum and is home to mildew and lots of bacteria.
Rinse off your shower curtains with hot water and pull the curtain shut when you’re finished.
If you have a shower door, use a squeegee (cutest word ever!) to clean it.
There you go! Another great way to clean your bathroom in just five minutes and leave it looking bright, shiny and new.

4. Don’t Let Your Bathroom Get Nasty
As I said before, I don’t let the bathroom get gross, so it cuts down on cleaning time.
If your counters are clean and wiped down daily, the toilet is clean, you will not have much to do in terms of keeping your bathroom clean, looking nice, and smelling good.
Items you need are in their places and only a little work is left to be done.
If you want to clean your bathroom in just five minutes, but can’t seem to dedicate the time in the morning, do it in the evening before going to bed instead.
For cleaning your mirrors daily, just use a very small amount of water to wash the glass, then use the dry part of the towel to buff the glass.
I am picky so I hate to see water spots of dust on mirrors. It takes me two minutes to clean the mirrors.
On weekends I clean the mirrors with glass cleaners and spend an extra minute on them.
Grandma says to try using newspapers instead of paper towels. They clean better and leaves mirrors streak-free!
Those spaces between your faucet and the back wall? Wipe those down when you have a minute.
Ever stayed in a 5 Star hotel where everything looks seemingly perfect?
Check into your room, getting ready for a night out on the town, about to brush your teeth and in the seams where the faucets attach to the counter tops you see grime and mold just sitting there?
As we say in Austria, “Pfui Teufel!”

I usually leave the chore of cleaning the bathroom to my husband :p but one thing that we find effective is to use vinegar on the tiles and fixtures. It really helps remove the calcium deposits.
