Need Great Feng Shui Techniques For Soothing Your Baby?
Today, I amsharing with all you mamas and papas a little about Feng Shui and which techniques for soothing your baby are best. So what exactly is Feng Shui anyway?
Feng Shui is a Chinese philosophical system of harmonizing everyone with an immediately surrounding environment.
In simpler terms, it can be explained as a practice based on the idea that our homes are a mirror of what’s going on inside us. Harmony or chaos.
Feng (wind) and Shui (water) is the art of having cosmic energy flowing through your environment to create harmony. This is turn means that you are harmonizing your energy with your home’s energy.
So moving right along, let Helen explain what the best Feng Shui techniques for soothing your baby are.
We’ve all heard about the benefits that Feng Shui can bring to a home.
From a purely organizational sense to a more spiritual one, the approach has gathered a fair amount of traction over the years and spread its influence across the entire world. One thing that people often forget about is applying the same principles in their nursery.
Despite what we might think, newborns are especially sensitive to outside influences and a few approaches can actually help soothe their impulses and give parents time to take a breather.
The Crib Is Everything
The crib is the central piece of the room deserves a specific place within the four walls it’s surrounded by. The first step is to avoid placing the crib against any wall except if it’s the head of the crib.
As the central piece, the crib should ideally be placed in the center of the room, equidistant from at least ¾ of the walls. There is also the firm belief that having the crib face magnetic north will inhibit restlessness during the night.
When opting for this route, consider deliberately misaligning the cot with the door leading inside. It is believed to help with restful nights.
Focus On Subtle Colors
As tempting as it might be to go for colors that pop and really draw people’s attention, it’s considered good practice to avoid it.
Leave the bright colors for preschool, a baby’s room should optimally go the opposite route and instill a general feeling of calm.
This is an efficient, and one of the best feng shui techniques for soothing your baby.
The idea behind this is that babies can get overstimulated by the vivid colors and elaborate wall designs which can affect their sleeping patterns and, as a result, our own.
Deeper colors will instill them with a sense of calm and slowly pull them into a placid mentality.
Take Special Care Of The Lighting
When Feng Shui is concerned, lighting is everything; or more specifically, natural lighting can make or break a room.
A key concept in Feng Shui is the relationship between Yin and Yang. It’s obvious that lighting will play a big role in any room. Strive to strike a balance between the two, letting enough light into the room.
This concept duality balancing out and forming a whole is present in many other areas of Feng Shui, but none are more important than this one.
Remove Pointed Objects
Another of the great feng shui techniques for soothing your baby is known as the poison arrow or Sha Chi. The practice of removing or re-positioning sharp-ended objects that are directly aimed at the child while it’s sleeping.
These arrows considered to be points of strong negative energy directed at your child’s personal energy field.
This will weaken its energy and cause unrest throughout the entirety of the day.
The tedious task involves going through the room and essentially pointing everything from the crib. Making sure that everything is pointed away from the center.
Unclutter your life. Unclutter your home. We feel best when everything and everyone around us is in harmony and in balance. The peace and the beauty of your home will raise you up, and give energy to your goals. ― Eileen Anglin
Leave Room For Empty Space
A clutter-free room is something that both your baby and you will enjoy.
Cleanliness instills a feeling of harmony throughout the room and enables movement which is another key concept of Feng Shui.
If you run into any inconvenience with excess furniture, there are some super cheap self storage options that offer an affordable alternative to throwing things out when making room in the nursery or for the nursery itself.
Rinse and Repeat Feng Shui techniques All Over Your Home
The nursery should not be the only room in the house in which you should apply these techniques.
Accumulating positive energy throughout the house will soothe both you and your baby and make day-to-day life more bearable. Like in all things, practice moderation, go through these steps by step and figure out what works and what doesn’t.
Every child is different and as such requires a customized approach and constitutes special care when deciding what to utilize and what to skip.

My mom years back when she was alive, she told me this and how she believed in feng shui..
I recently discovered about Feng shui on Pinterest. I had no clue about it. But I really want to try it’s “power”. I bet ecpesially for a baby room it should be used! You need all the good energy flowing in this room so this post can be really helpful! I’m not planing to have a baby soon, but I’m gonna be sharing this!
Super interesting. No babies for me yet but I will surely keep this in mind when I do!
Thanks for the information!
XO,
Nicole
I’d not ever heard of this type of practice! I’m currently 27 weeks pregnant, and have been trying to make our little babies ‘sleep space’ as calm and peaceful looking and feeling as possible. Keeping it clutter free! Last weekend I took most of my clutter and trinkets to a carboot sale and got rid of the whole lot! Now our home is nice and airy without the feel over over-crowdness! Feels much better, and there honestly does feel like a ‘lighter’ and more ‘peaceful’ presents in the house!
Much love, Caitylis x x
It’s surprising and quite interesting to know that feng shui can affect kids! My mom is a fan but she does it mostly for the ‘chi’ inside our house. 🙂
I think I really could use adding some Feng Shui to my house and making the rooms just feel more pleasant and peaceful when I get into them. Thanks for the inspiration here.
Wow this is incredible advice! So helpful and informative 🙂 Thanks for sharing x
While colorful may seem nice, but I am also not into it. I would love to have neutral colors or mostly white, beige or cream.
This post is incredible. Loved reading it. I heard about Feng Shui, and sometimes I used it, sometimes not.
But this was really great. I will definitely research more about Feng Shui. 🙂
This was absolutely wonderful! We have been ”blessed” with a calm baby which sometimes have his meltdowns. Super rarely though, this was a good advice 🙂
Very interesting article! I have definitely heard of Feng Shui before but never realized it could be used in a nursery!
Super informative post. I wish I had known this before. My child is now 3 years old, but Iam going to do some transformation to make the nursery a little more calmer.
I also want you to know that I really appreciate the content of your blog. It is fabulous to say the least.
I never thought about how small changes like this could really help a baby to sleep better. Great list!

I’ve heard about Feng Shui but didn’t know that it can help in maintaining a positive aura in the nursery. I’ll try to apply few points that you have mentioned in this post at my home also to prevent negative energy!
Fen shui is such a powerful tool for some zen at home! I so wish I had known these tips when my baby was an infant.
It was interesting to read that lighting plays an important part in Feng Shui techniques. Would you say that the same techniques apply in calming and soothing adults as well? x
Love this post! While I don’t have children, Feng Shui definitely piques my interest. I am quite obsessive compulsive about clutter and tidiness and always wonder whether practicing Feng Shui techniques could help in bringing more harmony to my everyday life.
Coming from Thailand Feng Shui is very popular! I have my cuisine who rebuild her house according to Feng Shui. And my mother inlaw bought my husband a Feng Shui book long time ago when he got his first flat (our flat) and he insisted arranging after Feng Shui. But we never thought of doing that for our daughter! Thanks for reminding me about this!
I had no idea that Feng Shui could also be used to soothe a baby, that’s really cool! I’ll have to take about this with my friend who is expecting.
Never heard of Feng shui tips to calm babies but these look promising. Thanks for sharing.
I really wish I would have considered this as an option when my daughter was teeny. I would have tried anything to get her to sleep well!
I would have never thought abut Feng Shui for a nursery! I definitely am not doing a lot of these tips currently! 🙁
Never even thought about this for a nursery! My daughter’s nursery was bright green lol!
She’s actually a really good sleeper though, luckily! Will keep this in mind for future babes.
You know, I didn’t even think about feng shui for a baby’s room. That is a really cool. And it makes it look so beautiful and well put together too!
Never realises Feng Shui techniques can be applied for kids. This is an eye opener! Will show this to my wife. She knows a thing or two about Feng Shui!
Feng Shui is a powerful way to improve your lifestyle. I am not a mother yet, but I will definitely save this post for future references.
I absolutely love this!!! My boys are both grown but these are wonderful tips for new parents!
