I love the word happy now I know happiness is a choice. A habit that will guarantee personal growth in your daily life.
April arrived fast! Real fast. Seems like just a few weeks ago we were celebrating Christmas and the New Year, and suddenly Spring is here.
Flowers are blooming, coats and sweaters are coming off and the general feeling in the air is lighter, more colourful, happier. Happy. Yes, that word again.
I say daily because consistency is key. You have to work at it and really and truly want it.
A habit is defined as an acquired behaviour pattern regularly followed until it has become almost involuntary.
We have bad habits and good habits. Most people associate habits with something negative.
You can guarantee personal growth by acquiring these five habits and practicing them every single day.
Change will come slowly but surely.

1. Self Reflection
This is a great way to guarantee personal growth. Self-reflection is important for gaining perspectives into different situations that life throws at us. You will learn so much about yourself in the process.
Introspection is when you can examine your own thoughts, feelings and sensations to gain insight.
You will begin to see growth and changes in yourself and become better each and every day. It prevents you from worrying about things out of your control.
2. Always Have An Open Mind
When you learn to open your mind and listen to other points of views (even if you don’t agree with them). You will find that you learn to hear people out rather than trying to prove them wrong.
Listening is hard. It can be hard not to interrupt, hear the person out, then offer your thoughts, suggestions, feedback and opinions.
When you have a closed mind, it’s easy to rush to conclusions and pass judgment.
What if I told you I deleted all the pictures on my husband’s phone while he was sleeping? Would you think I was a mean spirited little witch? Possibly.
Ok – but what if I told you his phone had run out of space because we take so many pictures of our little one. He had asked me for days to please download the pictures to the PC and remove them from his phone.
Didn’t get around to it until after everyone had gone to bed. Would that change your impression of me?
Having an open mind means not taking the first thing that enters your head and establishing it as fact.
Don’t limit yourself to approaching life the same way day after day. Be more accepting of others and open to change.

3. Learn To Take Risks
YIKES! Why should you have to take risks to guarantee personal growth? Simple, it helps you face your challenges and fears. A lot of people are too afraid to take risks and lose out on achieving so much in life because they do not want to take risks. Risk taking has many benefits such as:
- Drives you to learn new skills
- Creates opportunities
- Builds self-esteem
- Empowers you
- Helps you to achieve your goals
- Breaking out of your comfort zone will allow for changes to happen
4. Speak Positive Affirmations
I am a HUGE fan of positive affirmations. Speaking positive affirmations to yourself daily will guarantee personal growth in your life.When I started speaking positive affirmations to myself, I was able to strengthen the connection between my conscious and unconscious mind. Having an open mind and learning to take risks are really important. I need to take more risks myself sometimes, I’n not that adventurous..

Great read today. I think it is positive affirmation and finding humor that works for me the best. I know that it is not easy to stay away from negativity (its all around us – and worldwide at that!), but with a lot of practice, we can do it!
Amen to that. For me personally being open minded is the most successful way of guaranteeing personal growth! And not just being open minded in your attitudes towards others but also being open to trying new things and going out of your comfort zone.

You know, I always used to think the positive affirmation thing was corny. I could never get into it. Then I started a new job and I told myself that every time I passed a specific landmark during my daily commute, I would say one positive affirmation to myself. I honestly do think it puts me in a positive mindset for the rest of the day!

I really like the idea of taking time out of your day to be reflective. So often, I’m faced with so many distractions (we all are!). But, the times in which we really figure out whats working and what isn’t are the times we remove ourselves to allow for reflection.
