Luxurious Train Travel Benefits And Why You Should Experience It At Least Once
Would You Pay €17,500 ($19,350) For A Trip On A Train? First thought? Heck No! No, I can think of over a hundred other things I would like to do with that money. Besides, I would rather just fly than take a train. On second thought, hmmm, if I just happened to have €17,500 sitting in the bank waiting to be spent? To be able to enjoy the luxurious train travel benefits and a trip of a lifetime?
So who goes on these trips? Personally, I do not know anyone who has had the chance to go on one of the luxurious experiences.
I do not believe that this experience is mainly targeted at the rich and famous, but rather, for adventure seekers, those who want a taste of something different.
To answer my question above? Would I pay this amount for train travel? Yes, I would – If the money was available and wouldn’t hurt my bank account? Why not?
It is hard to justify that amount of money, but it would be worth it. Luxurious train travel should be experienced at least once in a lifetime should it not?

Doesn’t that sound amazing? A trip of a lifetime I would imagine! Now if this has not changed your mind about the benefits of luxurious train travel over flying or taking a regular train, then I not sure you can be convinced. That’s okay though, train travel is not for everyone.
Inside The Train
I am not advertising for this train company or tour service (well – actually, I am but not really on purpose) I just find the Golden Eagle Luxury Train the best choice of luxury train travel I have come across so far.
One of the best luxurious train travel benefits is enjoying en-suite cabins, fine dining, first-class service and a personal cabin attendant service available.

wow travelling by luxury train seems really expensive however it probably is a once in a lifetime experience.
It sure does sounds like an adventure I would like to try, if I had that kind of money.
Although I would settle for a cheaper ride to see these places. Thank you for sharing this!
Being a student, I am always on the lookout for budget places to visit, budget transportation etc etc. thus, I have never been on a luxurious travel. not that i dont want to someday. But to be honest, I am more of an adevnture kind of a person. Sports, physical activities, walking around towns. so, I am not very sure how I would like being pampered in royalty. But definitely a must try.
I agree that a luxury train trip sounds glamorous. Murder on the Orient Express is one of my favorite books, so I’d love to do that. I think the price from your post sounds totally reasonable for an 8 day trip. I also met a Russian girl who did the Trans-Siberian and says it’s a must-do, so that’s on my bucket list as well!
These luxury train travel experiences are really lavish and extravagant and do cost a bomb, though of course the whole experience would be really worth it. In India there are luxury train trips like the Golden Chariot, etc., where you are literally treated like a king.
This train is absolutely amazing! It reminds of glorious times, when famous personalities would go on a long, but elegant train trip to the other part of the world. Amazing, would love to be part of this experience.
WHATTTT expensive as – but doing that train trip through russia and the surrounding countries is TOP on our list!
I love the look of the train rooms – so cozy and luxurious. I like traveling by (non luxury 😉 train because I enjoy staring out windows and reading, it’s such a treat. Though I couldn’t afford one of these journeys, I’d never turn it down if given the chance to go on one 🙂
You’re lucky have a lot of money and can be a luxury vacation. I’m still having trouble finding the money, so the only place nearby that I could visit. But hopefully I can also enjoy a luxury vacation without thinking about the money. hehehehehhee ..
Hi Komang – No I did not go on this journey. I believe you misunderstood the post. I was answering the question of whether or not I would do this IF I had the money to go on a trip like this. If the money was available or the trip was made possible for me then I would go on it.
There are luxury trains such as this one that goes through all Europe, and I find the idea great, and the service must be just amazing to justify such amount of money, but I would never indulge on this. Indeed, I’d rather travel with a backpack through the world and set up in an unknown place that being stuck in a train and depends on such locomotion. I might be crazy, haha, but I love the idea of just discovering the world and with this amount of money, there are so much more things to do!
I love that luxurious train room! What only worries me is the remake of the murder in Orient Express.. 😀 Cheers!
To be honest, I would never have that much of money to be put for this use- at least till such time that my kids are studying.
But, yes, I have parked away this thought in my mind- when I have fewer responsibilities then, I will consider this opportunity;))
Great post.
Wow, have never been on a luxury train but would love to try it at least once. 🙂 It is an experience to try at least once
I know that there is one panoramic train that goes through the most iconic landscapes in Switzerland. I don’t think it can be considered luxury since it is just a very old train that has been refurbished until perfection, in any case, it’s amazing. Also, I think that if I had all that money laying around, there would be many other places that I’d like to visit first… I kind of prefer flying over long train trips! in any case, very explanatory post! thanks!
Few years back, I traveled in luxury Indian train -‘ Palace on Wheels’ from Delhi – Jaipur- Udaipur and Agra and it was once in a lifetime experience! But in United States, flying or driving is a better option than train. Though I took the Amtrak train last year from Niagara to New York city but it was very tiring journey!
Hi Ana – I would love to hear more about your train travel through India. Was it very pricey? I can only imagine how wonderful the trip must have been. How many days did it last for?
OMG! I didnot know Moscow is that beautiful! Love that picture and your itinerary sounds very exciting. I have never been on luxury train trips. As you rightly said, I feel it creates a big whole in my pocket and I’d rather do something else with that money. Having said that, I definitely intend to do 1 luxury trip (may be a short one) to experience the perks of hospitality.
This is such a nice and elegant train. I always wanted to travel by train but that is not possible in our country 🙁
Where do you live Rowena?
I’ve seen trains like this in movies, but didn’t had the idea that it costs so much! Though I want to add this on my bucket list. It looks worth it especially the bed, it may looked small but the room itself is very elegant. How about their food? Is it good? And is the train fast or slow? Normally trains are slow when I see them on TV.
I think we all want to travel in style or luxuriously if money is no issue. So I agree with you, if you have the means then why not. Personally, if I do have the budget I’d ride a luxury train, I mean just look at how beautiful it is.
O Lord, this is just so heavy a billto pay for luxury on fun, well when theremis surplus its understandanle but I cant do this as that money will go for some other investments, but honestly the idea is quite tempting…and this sounds a 1 of a lifetime experience.
If you have been so many things in the past months, rewarding yourself a luxurious train trip would be an ideal one. It’s just that if you have so much in your savings. But if you only have enough, a simple trip would be rewarding still.
Agree this would be one lifetime experience but definitely not a choice for a budget traveller. We have quite a few of these in India too. We dream to board one someday 🙂
For me who is a budget traveller, I could never book something like this. Even If I have the money to do so…I will still spend it on something better. A 2900dollar luxury train ride is worth 3 months of backpackig in Asia.
I am not actually sure if I’ll enjoy a long train ride. And I’m not used to spend a ton of money on travels except for food related things haha! For people who love to travel and have some dime to spend this is very helpful.
A train trip sounds wonderful and classy! I have always thought about reembarking an adventure through those places you’ve mentioned by train tracks, having a small cabin space for my tea and a nice window is all I need. Thanks for the recommendation!
I am never a train person pretty much because I’ve come to associate trains to an uncomfortable thing. It’s probably because my country has like the worst trains ever. But anyway, if the luxury train’s ticket cost that much then it probably has the best facilities a train could offer. I just don’t see myself riding it because of the absurd price of the ticket. Haha!
Oh my! This is a big dream of mine! Obviously, I don’t have that enough budget for that trip. But dreams do come true. I wish, someday, I will be traveling by train in style. 🙂
I hope you get to do it Jessica!
I wouldnt as well, but if ive got the money and resources, then perhaps I may spend that much. I love the idea o traveling via train. I find it romantic or perhaps I’ve read a number of novels where the boyfriend and the girlfriend met in a train and had their happily ever after.
I feel like I am not on a train, but rather a roller coaster. I started like you. I BIG RESOUNDING NO! Absolutely NOT. And then as I read, the reason why I said no was because I could not afford it. So if I do have money, and yes, like you, if it will not make a dent on my savings, then yes. BUT WAIT! No, no, no. Spending a lot of time on a train, I don’t think I can survive it. I need to be outdoors! I also need the internet! Then again… it is a chance to see things and places I would never ever see… see how from a train it became a roller coaster?
Hahahahaha. I agree with you Robert. It is a back and forth of yes and no, because yes, it would be an opportunity of a lifetime, but no – how do you justify spending that kind of money. But then again if it were offered for free or if you were a millionaire, then the amount for this luxury train travel would be peanuts in money spent. It is a hard choice to make when living on a normal salary, an easy choice when money is no object. 🙂
I just couldn’t do it! I feel like I could get a private jet to take me around for that much!
Yes Lauren you could definitely get to all those places faster and more relaxed flying private but would miss the scenery and experience along the way. I get your point though and I prefer flying too….
Couldn’t really justify the price but this luxury train looks posh and comfy to ride in. A train ride from Singapore to Bangkok sounds interesting. and would love to do it when I’ m there one day 😉
Although I can’t justify that cost.. it does look pretty and would probably be a great trip!
It all comes down to the money 🙂
Never say never! (I say this to my hubby frequently ), particularly If you set aside an additional lump sum, annually, in addition to your retirement fund. When you consider the cost of flights, accommodations, vaccines, insurance, sundries for each of the individual locations – I imagine there’d be a financial difference, yet this way, you’re guaranteed your own personal space / standard of living accommodation aboard something that’s reminiscent of the Orient Express.
Mimi, you are absolutely right! I did not think of it that way. I think it is a once in a lifetime experience that is worth taking if you can finance it, whilst not getting into debt for the sake of a vacation. Putting the money aside and waiting to take the trip, rather than just booking a flight and traveling makes it feel even more worth it. Thank you for your insight.
Not sure I would pay that for a trip on a train, think it’s far to much to be honest. Great post though hun.

You are right, I would only be able to this this if I won the lottery. I still think the trains are luxurious and would love to do it one day.
