A First Time Mom Experiencing Her Very First Mother’s Day – And I Couldn’t Be Happier
I celebrated Mother’s Day for the very first time as a mother! Congratulations to me! What a fantastic treat. My day was special because my son is precious, healthy, happy and he is the reason I am now called MAMA.
My hubby and son, affectionately referred to as “my boys” started my Mother’s Day off with a video they had made for me. My little one basically screeching MAMA , MA-MA, MAAAAA-MA throughout the whole video!
Mind you, he is 11 months old, so I was so excited and happy to hear him speaking into the camera and expressing what he was thinking and feeling.
Next, my boys made me a wonderful Mother’s Day breakfast. It was delicious. The three of us sat at the table, talked, laughed and enjoyed being in love with each other. I was able to savour the moment.
I am not into the presentation of chocolate and flowers so all of that was not needed. They wrote my “card” on the whiteboard in the hallway and I will leave that up there for as long as I can.
Just need to make sure I take a picture of it before one of my boys wipes it off.
We spent Mother’s Day out with my son’s Oma (grandma) and Urli (great-grandma), and had a lot of cake. It is so great for them to be able to experience this time with us and give me advice and tell stories about how their motherhood experience began.
What’s so spectacular about this?
The day. The experience. The pictures. The memories made. That made my day so amazing and special. The magnitude of love I felt and am still feeling as I write this.
My entry into motherhood has been a great adventure. I know, I know, all moms say this – I am blessed and happy to be able to experience my son growing up (fast), achieving many milestones. This is the best time of my life.
Two years ago I would have not thought I could do this.
Before I got pregnant, I worried about how my life would change if I had a child. How would it affect me dealing with OCD and anxiety? My job? My relationship?
We have found a great routine that works for us. I find joy in life and living.
I laugh and smile more and more. If you have read any of my other posts, you know that I am also on a personal growth journey, so positive affirmations are important in my daily life.

My New And Wonderful World
Mother’s Day has been a delight, and while wonderful to be recognized as a mother, for me motherhood is a daily celebration when my son looks me right in my eyes and smiles.
Mom (and Dad’s) how did you experience your first Mother’s Day?
Do you remember what you did, how you felt? Or are you looking forward to your first Mother’s Day?
I would love to hear your stories and experiences in the comments section below.

What a beautiful post, your joy in life just radiates from it! I enjoyed reading how you really love and cherish the simple joys of living. I think this makes all the difference. Happy belated first Mother’s Day!
Last year I had such a special Mother’s day, it was nothing spectacular but one I will remember. I was able to celebrate with my own mother and my younger sister who at the time was expecting her first child. 🙂 I live far from home so this was a very rare experience for me and really meant a lot.
Congratulations! I hope you had a wonderful day. Thanks for sharing at Welcome Home Wednesday, we hope to see you again next week.
Congratulations and many years of being a wonderful mother!
Thank you for your kind words Adeola! Have a great weekend.
I am not yet a mom, so I don’t really know what it’s like to celebrate Mother’s Day. But you my dear, must have been super thrilled & ecstatic. I’m glad that your boys went out of their way to celebrate your first Mother’s day. Men aren’t usually showy of their affection, so kudos to them for doing something extra special for you. I’m sure it was something memorable for the whole family.
I am truly happy for you. This must be an amazing day. I hope one day I can say this again! To have a baby calling me mama. I am so happy for you; enjoy every single day like this! You’re blessed!
Inspiring! Still the toughest job in the world – being a Mother! I adore you and Happy mother’s day! I know you will continue being a good mother.
Congrats Sheri!!!!
That is so sweet. Happy mother’s day to you. You are lucky to have “your boys” in your life. They clearly appreciate you. And I’m sure they are also extremely lucky to have you in their lives. You seem like a really good mother. Thank you for sharing your experience. God bless you and your family.
I do believe that happiness is made out of little things and moments spent together with your loved ones. I think you had a great day and you have been spoiled, having breakfast in bed and lots of cake. These are the times that count 🙂
I’m not a mother yet, but I’m definitely looking forward to become one someday. 🙂 It’s so nice to hear that you enjoyed your day with the family! In my eyes, every single day is a mothers day!
xx Mena
Wow! Happy Mother’s Day Sheri!! Spend more time with your kids and cherish each moments.
Happy Mother’s Day to you, dear momma. I first became a mom 13 years ago and I remember so well I spent the whole day just staring at the small man beside me. 13 years have past and I now have four boys with me and they make my live so happy and crazy at the same time.
Happy Mother’s Day to you, dear momma. I first become a mother 13 years ago and I remember so well how I spent my day just staring at the small man beside me. Its one of the most beautiful experiences I had and now 13 years have past and I got three more boys – more reason to be happy and enjoy life.
That’s great that your boys gave you such a nice Mother’s day. I’m not a mother but I am a teacher and it’s sweet seeing my students get excited about doing things for their mothers. One of my students wrote a biography about her mother (who is pregnant). It came complete with a drawing of her mother. I’m sure it was a good mother’s day present for her. Good luck on this adventure of yours!
So sweet! Happy mother’s day xx
Congratulations on being one of the awesome moms in the world! Happy mothers’ day as well 😀 Not yet a mother but I’ve been a mother to my dogs and it’s just awesome. Feels rejuvenating whenever I get to play with them or see them or even hear them bark.
Thanks so much. I am happy to be a part of the club. LOL. I love dogs and have a Bobtail and a Cocker Spaniel. I am glad you get to spend time with your dogs too, they make for great loyal companions.
So lovely to hear about your day! Happy first Mother’s day to you.
Thank you Tania, Happy Mother’s Day.
I remember my first Mother’s Day and I continue to every year because I was made an official mother just days before Mother’s Day! It seems like it was yesterday but I love being able to celebrate with my daughter and tell her how I was so happy she was born so I could be an official part of Mother’s Day! I am so glad it was great for you!
Oh Alison, it is great isn’t it. We are all so blessed and lucky. This is a really exciting and great year for me and I am looking forward to many more. I am glad you were able to celebrate with your daughter.
Happy Mother’s Day Sheri! The first is the best. Cherish this time it goes by fast. My kids are in their twenties so I honestly can’t remember the first but the gifts they brought home from school, made with their own hands were always my favorite. Btw, love the header.
Thank you Heidi! Happy Mother’s Day to you too. I had a great time and I really do feel like time is speeding right by me. my little one is almost a year already! Yousr are in their twenties so if you say it goes by fast as well, then I need to savour these moments as best I can. I love handmade gifts, they are the best. Were you able to celebrate with your kids?
