Things You Can Do That Will Dramatically Enhance The Way You Live And See Life
Occasionally, for your mental health, it is important to try something new, something different from your day-to day life activities. There are many meaningful ways to enrich your life by making little, yet effective decisions.
The thoughts you choose, the ideas you accept as truth, and the beliefs you plant in your mind are an intentional and purposeful investment towards achieving your dreams.
As you either know or will learn eventually, life is a roller-coaster with ups, downs and challenges. We go through the seasons of life from the moment we are born to the day we part the earth. Our attitudes influence how we show up in life.
So what does it mean to enrich your life? To enrich your life means to fill your mind, body and soul with experiences that teach and challenge you. You overcome life’s obstacles by approaching life with courage. Everyone wants to live a full and happy life, and here are some of the things you can do this year to live an enriched life.
The future never arrives as you expect.Click To Tweet
1. Love Yourself Even More
Not just your partner, your children, family, and friends. Love yourself, more than you already do. A lot of our self-confidence and self-esteem issues result from a lack of self-love. Life is a voyage of self-discovery. The more you love yourself, the more you will deeply appreciate who you are.
Do you embrace all the different parts of yourself? The things you like and dislike, your strengths and weaknesses, and even your little peculiarities? It is not easy and it takes both time and practice. I have moments when I engage in negative self thought, assumptions, overthiking and worry. And it has gotten me NOWHERE.
Others have been conditioned this way, perhaps from an event in childhood or earlier in life, causing the person to believe that they are worth less than others.
Remember, unconditional love is something we can choose. Compassion for yourself will enrich your life as you begin showing concern for your own feelings and for others.

2. Do What You Need To Do To Be Happy
Figure out what makes you feel good. It doesn’t matter what it is but become mindful and aware of how you feel when you partake in certain activites.
Do you feel bored at your everyday job, but feel delighted when you can paint, sing, or write poetry? Find what leaves you feeling fulfilled, and do it as often as you can. Feeling good is the only permission you need to do what you love to do.
A career is more than just a job, and it should be something which makes you happy for the longtertm. If you feel stuck in a rut with your career it might be worth thinking about changing in your path.
There are many online courses, degrees and masters you can enroll in to get you started on your path to success. Try to find that one thing that makes you excited to get up each morning.
3. Finish What You Start
Sometimes we can be very spontaneous and creative in beginning new plans or projects. Finishing them might be a different story. Starting things, yet not seeing them through is not a great habit. Following through with what you say you will do shows integrity and responsibility to our word.
We all juggle multiple things at once. A family, a home, social life, and job. It’s great to multitask, but sometimes you need to focus on one task at a time to see it through to completion. The first step of finishing is to make the decision that no matter what, this lingering task will linger no longer.
I never make resolutions. I set goals, but break them down into smaller achievable goals. Doable, daily action steps which help me get to my main goal faster, without feeling overwhelmed or failing.
Your plan should include deadlines. Commit to them.
4. Volunteer Your Time And Donate Your Things
Sometimes what we can do to make our lives more meaningful is to make a difference to someone else’s life. Choose a charity or cause you are passionate about and take time out of your week to volunteer for it. If you cannot find the time during the week, try on weekends.
Other options are to donate or fundraise. It will give you a larger sense of purpose and you will feel better knowing you have made a positive impact on the world around you.
You can be of service to others in the smallest way through your thoughts, words and actions.
Have A Look At My Two Favorite Charities
Habitat for Humanity builds homes with volunteer labour and as much donated or cost-reduced material as possible. Fundraising takes place to help offset expenses of the materials, services and land. Habitat for Humanity works by providing safe and decent homes to vulnerable families.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is the world’s largest wish-granting organization. This foundation has granted more than 165,000 wishes since its beginning in 1980. From spending a day with their favorite basketball player, being a princes at Disney World, the 25,000 volunteers who are part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation are there to help grand gravely ill children their greatest wish.

5. Appreciate The Beauty Of Nature
Our planet is a beautiful thing. There are thousands of species of animals and plants on the earth, thousands of places to explore and discover, and so amazing memories to be made in the great outdoors.
Did you know spending time in forests, hiking in mountains, and just being outside can lead to significant health benefits? Spending time surrounded by the simplicity and beauty of nature can make a difference to your life.
Work, commute, taking care of kids, cooking, cleaning, watching TV, connecting on social media, and more, can leave us spending an average of 90 percent of our time indoors. Just 50 years ago, that would have been unheard of. We need to go outside.
If you’re stressed out at home or in the office, it’s amazing what a quick walk outside can do for you. The more time we spend with the screen, the more likely we are to suffer dry eye syndrome.
Letting your eyes focus on something more distant exercises different muscles and allows the eyes to relax and recover. Remember, your body’s best source of vitamin D is the sun.
So get off the couch, get out, and experience this beautiful planet we live on.
6. Learn Something New
If you feel as if you aren’t getting to the right place in your life or that there is something missing, you can always learn something new. It could be a course to further your career, something to enhance your personal life such as cooking, or even a new hobby you can enjoy during your spare time. There is always room for learning new things, and the ability to learn and grow is what makes us feel whole and complete throughout the years.
I did 10 pottery classes in NYC and got my hands dirty while learning to create my ceramics. As a beginner, it surprised me how much pottery allowed me to relax. I learned hand-building techniques like pinching, coiling and the wheel. Three of my creations now sit in my home.
7. Spending Time With Your Family Will Enrich Your Life
Family is the most important thing in life and it is the heart and soul of many of our worlds. Often as we grow and venture into adulthood we can become a little distant from our family while trying to deal with different responsibilities and commitments in our lives. The bond we have with our family can sometimes lessen through the years and this can make our life feel a little hollow.
If you make time to spend with the people you love, you will enjoy happiness and support which is what life is all about.
Be mindful and intentional about how you use your time, and who you share it with. Mindfulness invites you to bring your attention to what’s taking place in your life. It means connecting with the present moment. Little decisions can have profound effects. Try these seven simple ways to enrich your life — starting now!
Enrich Your Life Daily With Choices You Make
Here are 10 little decisions I make daily, that I think will help you enrich your life.
- Letting compassion speak louder than criticism
- Keeping an eye out for serendipity.
- Listening to intuition, not just logic.
- Never trading in authenticity for expectations.
- Giving away more than we keep.
- Embracing the journey, not just the destination.
- Remembering that life is short.
- To let someone else have the last piece.
- Seeing opportunities in obstacles.
- Letting the inner voice, speak louder than outer voices.
Are You Up For A Challenge That Will Help Enrich Your Life?
For the next 30 days, make it a point to learn at least one new thing each day. Nothing crazy like quantum physics or constellations. Keep it simple, like the name of a flower that grows in your garden, the capital of a country on your bucket list. By the time you hop into bed, find at least one thing you’ve learned that day. If you journal, write it down. That is where your self-love journey begins.
Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be.Click To Tweet
I believe in the Law of Attraction, which summarized, says you should live in the assumption you are what you want to be, you have what you want to have, and you’re investing in you, your life, and your world. You’ll receive all you can accept. Keep investing and soon the dividends will show up.

I read your post on procrastination and being late. Browsed through some more posts and landed here. I relate to this one so much. Life is too short not to live it well.
Yes yes and yes some more. I had a lightbulb moment last week and finally trying to take steps to finish the things I start. Great info.
Hey Sheri! Thanks for this post. I have been feeling a little down on myself lately and needless to say, I have not done any of the above. Thank you for this. It truly changed my mindset for today.
