Positive Thinking Will Alter Your Life For the Better
Positive thinking has changed my life and it can and will literally change yours forever.
Surrounding yourself with positive people and positive thoughts will lead you in only one direction. Forward.
I know, it sounds all soft, and pink, and fluffy.
For the longest time, I lived with a pessimistic attitude. Pessimism is defined as a state of mind in which one anticipates undesirable outcomes or believes that the evil or hardships in life outweigh the good or luxuries.
This is a lie, unless you really and truly convince yourself to believe it.
When you think and talk about what you want and how to get it, you feel happier and in greater control of your life.
Mind, Body & Soul
Optimism is a learnable quality that you can slowly incorporate into your daily life until it becomes a part of you.
We know that if you are looking for something bad or negative in a person or situation, you are sure to find it.
So why not apply the same in looking for the good and positives in people and situations? A little gesture goes a long way and you can make someone feel someone better about themselves. Why not try it today?
Focusing on all the positives in your life reduces stress, anxiety and leaves less room for you to worry about the things you can neither change nor control.
Our minds have influence on our bodies – so when you are unhappy, complaining, focusing on negatives, you are doing your body and health no favours.
You are also more likely to ignore the kinds of foods you are taking in, not sleeping as well as you should, possibly drinking or smoking more. These are all lifestyle changes you can make to avoid health issues.
Now, I am not saying that you need to be perpetually positive no matter what. That would be silly. And unnatural.
'You can't live a positive life with a negative mind' Click To TweetBeing optimistic does not mean that you should deny legitimate feelings of sadness, pain or grief. We all feel those feelings at some point in our lives. Allow the feelings to come through. Process them, but don’t allow them to put you in a dark place. How you end up dealing with those feelings will depend on your attitude.
No wallowing in self-pity!
Inner Dialogue
Try to live each day consciously. It is important to be careful about your inner dialogue, i.e. the words you speak to yourself. What I do is speak positive affirmations to myself.
It is a daily habit I have had to learn.
We pick up most of our negative or positive inner dialogue early in life. In turn, we believe the words we speak to ourselves, so filling our minds with positive information, thoughts and ideas will change the way we feel about ourselves and others.
Over the past few months, I have repeatedly caught myself with negative inner dialogue.
What do I do? I immediately switch to positive thinking before allowing my mind to run on autopilot, possibly ruining the rest of my day. Positive thinking has given me the strength not to give up when times were tough.
Break the habit and make the change.
I have encountered a lot of obstacles, but turning my negative self talk into positive affirmations has allowed me believe in myself and my abilities.
When I was younger, I kept a diary. I loved writing letters to pen pals. Went as far as believing that I could be the next Christiane Amanpour! My inner dialogue didn’t quite agree. Had I only known about the impact and power of positive thinking.
Well, here I am writing and sharing my stories and experiences with you. I hope to be able to add some positivity to your day and your life. Share with you my thoughts in order for you to hopefully learn something from this post to utilize in your daily life.
Finding Happiness Through Positive Thinking
Instead of looking for happiness from others, we have to realize it’s not out there to be found. It’s within us. We need to be emotionally self-reliant. This will enable you to recognize opportunities, take chances, and be happy.
Positive thinking is a state of mind that is well worth developing. I don’t claim to be an expert, or a positivity guru, I can only share with you the things I’ve experienced. As a result, I am happier for it.
The words you speak to yourself hold the power to the way you treat yourself. Find the good in yourself and others will see it too. You will radiate not only confidence but feel it too!

(or at least the way I see it / feel it)
I think it will work for me and i will share this information with my friends also, maybe it will be useful for someone
Thanks
This is exactly what I need in this time. I’ve always been positive, but I feel like turning negative lately and I need some boost that brings me back to the right track. Hopefully I will succeed, or, better, I have to succeed 🙂
Focusing on the things you can change and thinking positively about the world around you is so positive. How can you expect to experience things positively if you view everything through a negative lens? I am not at all a religious person, but there is one prayer that I think has a lot of wisdom on this topic. It is known as the Serenity Prayer: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference.
Sometimes facing quite a few disappointments in life makes you forget such precious lessons. It is best to rmind oneself with such positive posts!
Thank you for sharing these golden words.
Indeed…people do set you back but as you pointed, it all is up to us to get thinking positively and feel good about ourselves. That automatically changes not just our perspective but the atmosphere around us. Cheers
I strongly believe that what ever happens with you is a result of your thoughts. It might seem strange but positive thoughts can lead you to a beautiful future. After all, happiness is an inside job 🙂
I’ve been making an effort to do positive affirmations to kick start each day. It helps me feel healthier and less stressed out!
You are so right, we have to be positive, especially with people around us. If we are always trying to look for something bad or negative in a person or situation, we will always find something wrong, nobody/nothing is perfect!
My daily dialogue is all over the place! I’m rather neurotic when it comes to being positive and negative. Some days I feel excited, motivated- I say and think things like, “Wow, isn’t that amazing?!”, then other days I wake up and don’t even want to open the blinds to see the glorious sunlight. I read something interesting saying we all have “a baseline happiness” and that really helped me to understand in more depth. Being positive is CERTAINLY helpful, but if you’re not in the right mood, being told to simply “be positive” when going through a hard time can be difficult to hear.
We really do underestimate the power of positive thinking. Great advice. I often think I am my own worst enemy. We all need to work on ourselves everyday.
Always think of happy thoughts, surprisingly this simple gestures gives huge impact.
As an naiive optimist, living in a negative filled, pesimist world, I loved reading this. Helps stroke my ego/inner-dialogue knowing that I am not the only one that needs to train myself into being positive, despite all the hardships and letdowns so far in my life.
Positive thinking is like a ray of power within! It is so effective, yet with our daily routine life, it loses its place for a while as our mind swings back to its not-thinking-ness. I try to keep up worth it consciously, so that it becomes a natural!
I have long lived with pessimism and it was only fairly recently that In learned to harness all that was and is good in my life and to see life as a glass that is half full and not half empty! I am now one of the most positive people I know and will always try to see the good in people and situations! Karen
it! It always is up to us on how we feel^^
Now I am not the most positve person on earth…I love dark humor and am maybe a tad too realistic at times…but then that is how I am happy…so it can’t be that wrong 😉
But then people do say you attract what you think about and what you expect…that’s maybe why I am so disaster prone, but it makes live so much more interesting^^
Spot on! It’s so easy to get in a rut of dwelling on the negative and missing the positive things that are happening in your life. I try to think positively, but this is a great reminder to keep at it 😀
Just like our PH President shared recently on his public speech, “We cannot move forward if we always dwell the sins of the past.” Let’s raise our arms wide and be positive!
We tend inflict so much suffering upon ourselves through negative self talk. #loveyourself…
This sums the post for me, belive in yourself and definitely the positive vibes and energy will be better of.
Positive thoughts are so much more healthy for you
“I am learning that focusing on all the positives in my life, reduces stress, anxiety and leaves less room for me to worry about the things I cannot change.”
I tend to be pessimistic as well, and have slowly learned to apply gratitude in those trigger situations:) Absolutely love this- thanks for sharing!
Thank you Brittany. I am learning by doing. LOL. Sending only good thoughts out into the universe in order to get the same back.
A motto of “love life and it will love you back”. 🙂
This is the perfect post.. love it! People do not realize that stinkin thinkin is unhealthy! I try my very best to counter any uncomfortable feeling or issue with a positive thought. There is always a bright side to everything!!
Thank you for your positive feedback. I like your words – “counter any uncomfortable feeling or issue with a positive thought” hmmmm…maybe I can quote you in this post..?
Lovely post. And I do agree with you. Plus, how would negative thinking help in any situation? It wouldn’t. So why make things harder for us? #bepositive
Thank you Sheri for the wonderful post 🙂 It is so true that people will always pull us down, but we need to be determined.Giving up is never an option.
Yes Neena. We need to stay strong and positive, so we really get the best out of this journey called life. 🙂
Your words are very encouraging 🙂
I agree, we really need to start with ourselves and make sure we are happy before we help others.
Great information here. I am going to save this post for when I cover optimism in September. I love the connection you make between positive thinking and endorphins.
Thank you for the feedback Sandy 🙂 Please share with me the link to your post in September.
Lovely post Sheri! Thanks for sharing this wonderful post. Agree with you on a state of mind. Positive thinking is key to happiness.
