Have You Unlocked The Secrets For Contentment?
Every single one of us is on a journey. We want to find the secrets for contentment, but most of the time we are not always right where we want to be on the journey, and that’s perfectly ok.
Sometimes, though, it’s hard to accept that idea…that’s it’s actually ok to not be where we want to be.
In this world that covets perfection and shames people for not being exactly the way everyone else says they should be, it’s almost impossible to stop and appreciate each step of the way on our journey.
I’ll let you in on a little secret, it IS ok to love where you are RIGHT NOW, even if it’s not where you think you should be.
There is a practice on the 8 fold path of yoga called santosha, or contentment. Santosha means accepting and appreciating things they way they are, not how you want things to be.
Lao Tzu once said:
“Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.”
Every thing you experience along your journey forward helps to make you who you are now, and who you will become in the future. This means every single experience is important. Use the want for more as the drive to move you forward, to help you to unlock the secrets for contentment.
Everyone has things they can change and improve on, but don’t lose who you are right now by longing so much for who you want to be. This is especially hard when it comes to wanting to lose weight or make more money. You need to realize that wishing so hard for something that’s not, can actually hold you back and make your progress slower. You need to love yourself and what you have right now, and then nothing will be able to hold you back!
Here are some positive affirmations or mantras you can turn to when you need help feeling content.
I find mantras help me clear my mind and focus on what I really need to work on feeling. I repeat them when doing yoga, when praying**, and sometimes just at times during the day when I feel anxious or stressed.
Mantras for Contentment:
- What I have is enough. Who I am is enough. Where I am at is enough.
- Every experience holds a blessing. It is my job to always try to find it!
- Sadness is living in the past. Anxiety is living in the future. Inner peace is living in the present.
- I must take time to appreciate where I am right now. My entire journey is important.
- What I have right now, I once longed for.
- I will enjoy today because I have a today to enjoy.
- How will I be happy with more if I cannot be happy with what I already have?
- Today I choose to love where I am and what I have. My entire journey is important.
- I will learn from the disappointments and not let them derail my journey forward.
Pick one of these mantras or even find one of your own. Pick more than one, whatever speaks to you and your journey.
Say it to yourself each morning in the mirror, say it during meditation, say it during yoga, or while you pray.
The secrets for contentment are not focused on religion. They are about you.
Anytime you need a reminder of how amazing you are right now and how important this moment is, say your mantra.
If you pray, here’s what you can do. Change your mantra to be something of thanks to God, or any being you believe in. Whatever works for you. Your mantra is personal to you alone.
So if your mantra is, “I will enjoy today because I have a today to enjoy,” while praying you would say something along the lines of “Thank you, God, for giving me this day. I may not always appreciate it as much as I should, and I am working on that. I am thankful that I am alive and well to enjoy another day on this Earth.” Or something like that.
So just remember that when praying, it’s probably best to use your mantra as a way to thank God ( or the higher being you believe in) or ask for help with what you are working on, not to boost yourself up in front of him. Just my two cents.
Remember, you ARE enough. What you have RIGHT NOW is enough. THIS POINT in your journey is important and worthy of being enjoyed. You need to stop and appreciate this moment on your journey, so that later you can look back and remember and see how far you’ve come!
This is how you will notice the changes in your life as you become happier and realise you are unlocking the secrets for contentment.

Good thoughts. We should definitely focus our energy to present and future, and only to the good things. Target to happiness and raise others. Living the past and concentrating on sadness never brings good things to live.
