Things In Life You Should Stop Wasting Time On In Order To Be Happy
There are so many things to enjoy in life. Lots to experience and great memories to be made. Don’t spend your life doing things that waste your time. Here are five things you should stop wasting your time on.
I get a lot of feedback from people thanking me in form of emails and comments on my blog about lessons they have learned and implemented in their lives. Today, I reflected on things I am doing and what I need to stop wasting time on.
There are many things I could substitute that will increase my time and help me gain productivity.
Do you have things that are robbing you of time? Thoughts that cloud your day and cause you sleepless nights?
Here are things to think about, the five things you need to stop wasting time on.
1. Being As Busy As A Bee
I am busy and always on the go. I used to have little time in my day for any extras. At least, that’s how it used to be. I have tools, tips, and strategies that help me schedule time every day to not be too busy. Have you dedicated time in your day for yourself? If you haven’t, you need to do.
Just 30 minutes a day can make all the difference. Stop wasting time by telling yourself you are too busy.
Light candles, lie down, clear your mind and just meditate.
2. Just Stop With The Drama
My gosh, I cannot stress this enough. Stay away from drama. Do not allow toxic people to have a place in your life. It is not worth it. Speak positive affirmations, talk about your blessings. Life has so much to offer us.
Struggle doesn’t equate to failure or a bad life. Keep people in your life who love, support and encourage you.
If you have people in your life who are toxic, don’t motivate you, or constantly bring you down, let them go.
The more you focus on something, the more of it you will see.
3. Leave The Past Where It Belongs – In The Past
We all change, and that is a good thing. You are not the same person you were ten years ago or even last year. Continue to grow and evolve, so let go of the past and continue to look forward and move on.
Learn from your experiences. Don’t beat yourself up for mistakes you have made in the past. Your future can and will be different if you are open to it.
You will never find time for anything. If you want time you must make it. ~ Charles BuxtonClick To Tweet
4. Stop Wasting Time Not Enjoying Life
Don’t live your life hating it. You are here for a reason. People always say live your life to the fullest, it’s not cliche at all. It is so true. It is important to stop wasting time on the things that don’t matter. Things that don’t fulfill you.
Life is far too short to waste your time on doing unnecessary things you hate.
You only have this one life, so live it well. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Follow your heart, it knows the way.
5. Stop Complaining, Be Grateful
Omg! There are so many people who spend their lives complaining about EVERYTHING! It irritates the living daylights out of me. The weather is too hot, their job sucks, the neighbors are annoying, a colleague is too happy, their car is crap, their back, legs and toes hurt, but you know what’s fine? Nothing!
These kind of people just have a way of dragging down your mood, sucking happiness out of you.
If you happen to be someone who complains about everything, trust me, you are ding yourself no favours. Complaining will get you nowhere, and the only person who it’s hurting is you.
Only you can make your life more complaint-free.

Think Ahead….
These are some of the things I have stopped wasting time on. Our world is fast-paced and time often seems to slip by with us barely noticing. Don’t miss out on the good stuff around you.
No need to wait for Friday in order to look forward to the weekend. You should be looking forward to something every single day.
Life is a very precious thing. I appreciate every second given to me.
On your final day, you can look back and be grateful for a life well-lived, or look back with regret.
You Are Responsible For You And Your Life
Your decisions on how you live your life will take you to where you will end up. I have three bucket lists.
One is of the things I want to do or experience before I kick the bucket, places I want to visit, and things I want to accomplish. The lists are ever-changing and evolving. I have crossed many things off each of them, and replaced them with new ones.
Want to start your own bucket list? I have a printable for you here. Create a Christmas Bucket List.
If you don’t celebrate Christmas, make a bucket list of things you want to stop wasting time on, or things you want to accomplish before the end of the year. I love getting into the Christmas spirit right after the gratefullness of Thanksgiving. I love using little Christmas Deco like these in my home.
Every second of the life given to you is a precious and you have to make something good out of it.

A Little Food For Thought
Ask yourself this: “If today was the last day of my life, would I be happy with what I’m about to do today?” I hope you answered yes. If not, do you agree there is room for making change? Life is on the right track when you are mostly doing the things you want to be doing.
What are the things you know you need to stop wasting time on?

This is such a great post- I think we all need these reminders daily, as so hard to really stop and live in the moment.
This is a great list of reminders. We all have the power to be happy and should be!
Totally agree on ALL of these! I can’t even pick my favorite because they are all so true. If I had to choose, I’d stay stopping the drama makes all the other areas easier to accomplish. I need to focus on not being such a busy bee!
I totally agree that busy-ness can be a waste of time. It doesn’t alway translate into productivity.
I love this list! I went through a very difficult year that affected nearly all aspects of my life, and now try to remind myself of these ideas daily. Life is too short to be wasted on any kind of negativity or to let any positive thought go unexplored! That being said, my biggest challenge is number one. I tend to equate busyness with happiness/productivity, but often times it leaves me drained. I hope all those that need reminding find this today!
Drama is something I have definitely learned to eliminate from my life as completely as possible. If you bring drama than I don’t need you.
Very uplifting article. Working toward making these changes can totally empower a person to live a better life. I especially agree with putting a distance between people who complain all the time rather than making a change.
Totally agree! Luckily I’ve already learned not to waste time complaining, but I definitely am guilty of not just taking half an hour our from time to time.
Such great advice! I try to keep my complaining to a minimum but know I do it around my family. My new years resolution is to change that!
I feel that this post is for me . hehe Yeah, there are times when I spend so much time on drama. I dunno what it feeds in me, but sometimes, I try to blow an issue out of proportion just for drama. Well, I just do that to my husband but it’s plain mean. Thanks for the reminder.
I like number 4 especially. There are so many people who just seem determined to be miserable.
The first point is so apt! I am always busy doing something or the other and never relaxing! Also wasting time! I am SUCH a huge time waster and procastinater! Really amazing points!
Great words that all of us need to hear from time to time. I have stopped wasting time being mad at people who just don’t get it. I have no time or room in my life for people who just dont click with me. Great post !
Such an amazing post. Awesome advice. Everyone should read this. I always feel like I am non stop running I need to work on a few of these.
I agree with everything, 100%! I can’t do with drama in my life – it’s just not worth it!
My mom reminds me of this so often. You only have one life and it’s so short to waste time on these things.
This post is pure perfection. Life is short and spending it worrying about what other think or about things out of your control is silly. We have to let go and just enjoy all that life and this world has to offer.
This is the most amazing post! I read it with almost tears in my eyes. It is just all so true and I need to pay more attention to it xx
Love this! I have so many things I have been wasting quite a bit of time on and really need to stop. This is a great reminder.
Definitely! Each point is so important – life always runs so smoothly when you avoid those that create drama xx
These are important and do work. But leaving the past in the past is never a very easy thing just to do. But that’s the benefit of forgiveness, whether it’s to others or to yourself, it’s necessary to move on.
I agree being a busy bee is a real energy zapper and joy stealer. It is so easy to complain, but takes real effort to find the happiness in what you have.
Putting the past behind me has always been one of the things I struggle with. I tend to hold grudges for perceived injustice, and I really need to stop doing it…
This was great. I have a hard time over planning, and then getting frustrated if things don’t go right. It really is a big waste because I need to be more flexible and just enjoy my time more.,
Number two is the one that I have really tried to start on. As I’ve gotten older, I have come to realize that drama only begets more drama.
This is a post that every single person needs to read! We often try to fill our lives with as much work and business as possible and do not realize how detrimental overworking ourselves can be. I really like that quote from Thomas P. Murphy.
Excellent points all of them! Life is here and now. Should definitely keep that in mind more often and stop wasting my time into things I can’t do anything about, including the past.
Life is too short to worry about the small stuff. There is no sense in wasting time. I love this!
I am always in a hurry, no matter what. It’s so hard for me to slow down 🙂 The feeling of being hurried is not usually the result of living a full life and having no time. It is on the contrary born of a vague fear that we are wasting our life. So, I fully agree with your first point “Being As Busy As A Bee” and I try to make more and more time for myself…Find and enjoy some time to read or play guitar at least twice a week.
Couldn’t agree with you more on these. I now take time out every night to just chill for a bit so I don’t go insane and I’ve cut the drama right out. My life is much better for it.

You are absolutely correct! I especially agree with you about eliminating toxic people. Most of those people are also the complainers too. They do bring you down, so it is important to remove them from your life if you don’t want to be dragged down with them. Misery loves company.
I am so guilty of needing to stop doing these things. Great words to remember!
I so agree about staying away from the drama, I’m all about the positivity too. Great post.
Thank you for sharing! I waste an unbelievable amount of time procrastinating and pretending I’m busy when I could be napping or doing something more productive. Must work on that.
Love this post! I decided to block toxic people quite early in my life and ye cutting out drama helps a great deal! Thanks for sharing.
The basic principles should be taught in elementary school. It is very important to be present and to be grateful for everything.
This is a FAB post and completely on the right track. Life is way too short to be wasting time.
This is such great advice. So many times I have felt the struggle of being just way too busy.
Interesting post. It can be really hard sometimes to make time if your schedule is already busy. I Cut out toxic people years ago so luckily there isn’t much drama in my life any more except for that caused by the children.
Loved the simple tips. We do all whine a lot for small things. It makes life that much more easier if we juts move on already!
Amazing post!! I definitely waste time telling myself I’m too busy when I could have been getting things done! It’s so important to just enjoy everything that we do, thank you for this burst of positivity and inspiration this morning! I hope you have a wonderful weekend xx
LOVE THIS POST! Yes, yes yes! So most of these I have got them nailed but the one that I am working on the most is not thinking ahead too far. Its’ tough. I am an optimist and am always thinking what if. I get carried away. So I have to pull my self up occasionally to slow down and remember each day as it is. I find journaling really helpful.
Love the ‘no drama’ one – it’s something I’m working on – as well as the complaining!
Oh I so much agree to this post and its pointers. I need to say that how much busy I am , I have started finding out time for myself. And yes, I’m getting rid of all toxins near me!
Love your post! For me yes! Leave the drama and past! No need to linger those two! Enjoy living now and be positive! Cheers!
You are so wise, hun! I love this post – it is an excellent reminder to streamline my energy & live true to myself. Amongst the largest energy drains is living in the past & getting caught up (either your own, or someone else’s drama). Thanks also for the printable. Look forward to checking it out
These are some hard truths that I know I need to focus my time less on. Thank you for the inspiration to do so!
I totally hate complaining! I think it’s a waste of time. These are awesome reminders for people so they can maximize their time and live their life the way they’ve always wanted.
Oh gosh, life has been so amazing since I stopped being a busy bee! It’s the best thing ever! The past is good in the past, but does need to be dealt with sadly.
These are definitely things I need to work on, mostly letting go of the past!
When I was younger I did tend to over analyze about many things especially if they did not go as planned. Now I realize that much of that time was wasted. Much better to calm your mind and take breaks to take better care of oneself and to enjoy each day as much as possible.
Such valuable content and great reminders that we should take with us daily. It’s so important to stop and smell the roses and enjoy the blessing of life!!
These are some great tips for everyone to follow. Having a positive attitude and not dwelling on past failures is an idea we should all stick to.
This is all so perfectly true. I think that as we age some of those things come to us, like the staying away from drama and the people that cause it. I dropped a friend of mine because she was nothing but a case of drama all the time.
Hi there! This was a really refreshing post, thank you very much. I do agree to basically all of your points and actually need to remember myself to avoid being busy all the time. So far it doesn’t work, but hey working on it means something already, right? 🙂
LOVE this post, especially your first point. I hate being busy and rushing around….taking time out is so important x
