How Your Inner Voice Guides You Through Life
Inner voice, subconscious, gut feeling, universal guidance. Call it what you want to call it. It is that inner voice that often reminds you of the difference between right and wrong. It is that voice and feeling you get when something just doesn’t feel right, or when it feels special and amazing. I can tell you one thing, every time I have ignored my inner voice, I have regretted it. Happened to me four times and I clearly had to learn the hard way.
Have you ever reflected on the importance of the tone of your inner voice? How can your gut feeling help you make successful, positive, and life changing choices?
A healthy mind is crucial for our wellbeing. All day long we hear voices inside of our heads, we have conversations with ourselves from the minute we wake up, until we go to bed. And no, we aren’t crazy when we hear voices in our head. Those voices and gut feelings are inner guides that we all have. We have the power to allow it to lift us up, or push us down. It is this inner voice that eventually makes up our perception of the outer world and our own reality.
We constantly process different impressions that we get from the people and situations around us. We all have very busy minds and our thoughts can be very hard to regulate. When it comes to your inner voice, are you controlling it, or is it controlling you?

Allow Your Inner Voice To Speak To You At All Times
Our mind is like a muscle we need to train in order for it to do what we want it to do.
When you become aware of how your inner voice guides you, the different paths reveal themselves. Some will seem unclear and frightening because it’s so new, and others will look safer , even filled with stones and blockages,because it’s the path you’re already on. You may also come upon paths which seem empty. Today, let’s talk about listening to your inner voice, allowing it to guide you, and why this inner voice is always right.
What Is The Inner Voice Anyway?
You can think of your inner voice almost like your highest self. The real you. The wise part of you that can float high above the details of the moment, your own emotions, and the emotions of others to get an eagle-eye, more objective perspective on a situation.
Whether your inner voice is responding to a present situation, reflecting on a past experience, or helping to guide you in the future, the inner voice is our unique voice of truth that comes from within. Our innate intelligence.
And when we listen to it, swe turn inward to hear what our body and soul have to say before looking to the world outside of ourselves for direction.
We all have intuitive guidance , and receive information in four ways:
- as a gentle voice in your mind (clairaudient);
- seeing intuitive guidance as images in your mind (clairvoyant);
- knowing intuitive guidance as breakthrough thoughts or mental downloads (claircognizant);
- or feeling intuitive guidance as physical, emotional, or energetic sensations (clairsentient).
No matter how your intuition speaks to you, it is essentially your inner voice is perceiving, discerning, distilling, and communicating information in advance of you needing it.
Your inner voice will help you fully discern your wisdom, guidance, and direction, and there’s nothing more potent or powerful than trusting yourself and confidently following your truth.
1. Create Space For Your Inner Voice To Come Through
One of the reasons you are not hearing your inner voice, trusting it, or following through on it is because there is no space for it to come in. Some might even tell you they don’t have an inner voice. Schwachsinn! We all do.
The reason you aren’t hearing it, is either because you have tuned out, or you are constantly having negative conversations with yourself that you no longer listen to your intuition. You can also use your hands to help you connect even deeper.
Try this little exercise: Just put your left hand on your stomach and your right hand on your heart. The left side is the feminine side, and allows you to connect to your gut and intuition. Your right hand is associated with logic and the mind. So when you bring the right hand to the heart, it connects you to what is the truth.
2. Set The Rights Intentions
Learning how to listen to your inner voice can be as simple as setting the intention every day to simply tap into it. The problem is there are so many voices swirling around in our head, which makes it difficult to know which one is actually our intuition. Your mind, your fear, your reasoning, and your intuition are all battling for your attention That willingness to listen to it is sometimes all you need to awaken your awareness of your inner voice.
Make it a part of your routine. Listen to your inner guide. What is it trying to tell you? Whether your inner voice is loud and clear or more of a whisper, listening to it can be a great source of guidance when you need it most.
3. Your Inner Voice Protects You
You know that feeling you get around a certain stranger – it pulsates with warning, “Don’t engage in conversation. Do not accept that drink. Leave. or “I feel like I have known this person forever. This feels nice.”
Using your intuition is a great way to protect yourself from danger, as well as to allow yourself to be vulnerable to new people and situations. Get used to listening to your inner voice. When it knocks down that brick wall and tells you only one option, follow it, and just trust.
Then watch how everything unravels for you.
4. Stop Listening To The Wrong Voice
You know that voice that fill your mind and soul with fear? The one telling you why you shouldn’t do things, tells you why you’re not good enough, reminding you why you should be fearful, or causing you to agonise over your decisions. The one that causes you to overthink. The WRONG voice.
That’s the voice that keeps you in conflict with your inner voice. The voice of truth that is always trying to get you to listen. How easy it is to choose the other voice instead – the whiny, doubtful, fearful one. It’s louder and often makes more sense with its justifications and reasonings.
The voice that always holds you back. The voice that brings about dissatisfaction, anxiety, and uncertainty. Stop listening to the voice that is not there to guide you. be ready to embrace change always.
Your inner voice peaks and pushes you forward. It doesn’t need to justify or clarify. It commands. It’s a peaceful and loving command. It is the voice that takes you on a path more suited to your dreams, more in tune with your purpose. The voice that removes angst.
How Listening Will Help You
I’ve always known the power of my inner voice. If you were a part of my webinar a few days ago, then you already know about the consequences I learned of not listening to my inner voice, as well as the changes made since doing so.
There are time when you will doubt yourself, distrust the world, and believe in lack and fear, rather than abundance and inner strength. We have all been there, and we will still go through it. Listening to your inner voice will not disappear all your problems, but rather guide you intuitively on how to move through. It steers you back to right purpose and guides you on your inner journey.
Try to let your thoughts just go sometimes, and practice that through meditation. Meditation or any kind of activity where you just stop thinking for a while and give your mind some rest is so amazing for us. Guided meditations with Joseph Clough have helped me immensely.
A healthy and happy mind will help us to better take care of ourselves and make it easier for us to focus on self-care and other essential things that make us happy and inspired, such as relationships and passions.
The Power Of Your Inner Voice
Working on our mind is a constant and never-ending task that requires time and effort. Being the master of your own mind takes time and a lot of practice. A good mindset will do wonders for your overall well-being.
Whatever helps you get in touch with your inner voice, do it, and do it often. It may seem easier to look for answers outside of yourself, but with a little patience, trust, and good listening skills, you’ll be able to tune into your inner voice for guidance when you need it most.
Learn to listen to that voice. It’s where your power lies. Where an effortless peace lives. It is where you’ll find your strength, your purpose, your joy. It is the path to your real and authentic self.

This post is deep! A great reminder that that the number one person that looks out for you, is yourself.
Great post Sheri. Do you think hypnosis also work to help with meditation and hearing your inner voice better?
My husband doesn’t believe me when I tell him things like this. He will have to read this today. Wish me luck!
I have been lucky to trust my inner voice instinctively for as long as I remember. This post is so on point Sheri. 🙂
Heya! Had a convo with my mates recently and we have felt the consequences of not trusting that inner voice. I say the sooner you learn it the better.
I needed this reminder. Twice last week I ignored my gut feeling and still regret both decisions. Need to work on this.
